Think you know how to keep your lawn “green”? Dan Delventhal would beg to differ. MowGreen, the company he launched in 2007, provides gasless lawn care and it has become a hot commodity. His business has expanded into Fairfield, Westchester, New Haven and Litchfield counties. A UConn graduate and knowledgeable businessman, Delventhal wanted to make a difference. As a business owner and green enthusiast, he sees the amount of waste that accumulates in lawn care and decided to do his part and reduce the waste through his company.
Reduction, ecology, ethics and life sustaining practices (REEL) are the values that MowGreen embraces. Along with that come respect, effectiveness, efficiency and lasting values (REEL). The REEL vision with Dan and MowGreen is for there to be a national network of local lawn care companies that use “maximum REEL”. MowGreen cuts pollution, spillage, gas consumption, noise, dust and gets the “gas off the grass”. By using the REEL mowers and pushing rather than riding, a MowGreen employee gets the benefit of exercise and burning calories rather than fuel!
“We all do our part and lawn care is where I see gross waste,” said Delventhal. “I play my part: we drive and pay to exercise for nothing at spas, meanwhile we pay people to come spew poison on our lawns.”
The REEL mowers are used for fitness and prevent 5% of pollution from gas-powered gear from getting into our air. These are the perks of a company like MowGreen where the eco-conscious customer can rest easy knowing their lawn is being taken care of in a way that does not harm the environment. Delventhal posed a few valid questions of “why clog roads with trucks and trailers” to cart huge ride-along tractors and other gas-powered devices? Also, “Why all the noise and dust clouds?” Too often a noisy, large mower may interrupt a peaceful afternoon. His solution seems logical and beneficial: A quiet, clean and green lawn service that leads way to a nice barefoot walk on the “gasless grass”.
“The 5% of air pollution from gas equipment and my love of exercise spawned the formal launch of REEL mower based lawn care,” he said. “It’s the only health spa in the country that pays athletes to sun tan and exercise while saving the planet!”
The desire to cut down on air pollution and the fitness aspect of MowGreen using REEL mowers makes perfect sense. People like Dan Delventhal are innovative thinkers and as Dan mentioned previously, every small step made by individuals is one closer to a safer, healthier planet. Many people reduce on food waste, car emissions and other everyday changes so why not reduce the gas on your grass?
With similar prices to conventional lawn care MowGreen is worth trying! All the positivity flowing out of this effort cannot be overlooked. It is truly a great contribution to eco-lawn care. For the future of our earth and the small steps we as occupants of our planet take, I applaud all that MowGreen is doing.
